MOQ is an important factor in the manufacturing and pricing of labels - As a client, it's important to know what it is and how it can work for you! [Cohesion Labels](https://blog.cohesionlabels.com.au/author/cohesion-labels) Feb 9, 2024 --- When ordering your labels, you may have heard the term MOQ. This stands for minimum order quantity, meaning the lowest volume of a label variant you are able to order. But why do labels have MOQs in the first place? Let's dive a little deeper into MOQs, what influences them, and how you can use them to your advantage to save money on your labels! Whenever a label manufacturer commences a new printing job, there is set up required. Every label variant will have its own specific materials, adhesive, dies, ink colours, artwork, and other factors relevant to its manufacturing. Ensuring all of this is ready to go prior to printing takes time, as well as a cost for manufacturers. This means that it makes financial sense for label variants to be quoted with a minimum order quantity to make the time and effort of set up worthwhile. These set up variables are what influence a label's MOQ, but also what empower you to maximise your cost savings! When you receive a label quote, you'll notice that it is often priced in tiers based on quantity, with higher quantities priced at a lower per unit cost. This is because your order volume pricing reflects an offsetting of the initial set up costs, so due to economies of scale, the higher the volume of labels you order the cheaper your per-unit cost will be. The more you order the more you save! So, when you're next ordering labels, consider bumping up to a higher quantity to maximise your savings. If you have the storage capacity and the ongoing need for the label variant in question, it's a cost savvy decision!
