What Western Australia’s Container Deposit Scheme Means For Your Business
Western Australia has now joined many fellow Aussie states in implementing a container deposit scheme, as of the 1st of October 2020.
A win for our local waste industry, with the aim being to increase recycling and reduce the amount of can discarded as litter.
Best of all, at Cohesion Labels we have the newly required label artwork ready to go, so any changes needed will be quick and easy for our clients. The question on beverage manufacturers mind is what new labelling rules and regulations will they have to follow to keep this scheme running smoothly (and ensure they are operating legally)? We’ve reviewed the information – Here’s what you need to know!
There will be a 24-month transitional period following the schemes implementation, in which suppliers may legally supply beverages in containers that do not carry the refund mark.
However, once this time has passed, all eligible containers sold in WA must have a refund mark. Now is a great time to get these changes made, to ensure your customers are aware from the start that they can use your containers as part of this great scheme!
